Some suggested that HK is NOT China, and the milk was exported to many places outside China as well. As a result, I changed the answer to YES.

The prohibition on betting on a decline in share prices expired Oct. 8, the SEC said in a statement today. The SEC said it imposed the ban to calm markets and give Congress and the White House time to adopt legislation that lets the Treasury purchase illiquid assets that are burdening banks.

Commented on:   US Arms Sale to Taiwan
I guess US would not proceed the transaction during financial crisis. Its primary goal is to invite China to balance its debt account. US$6.5 billion arms sale could not boost the economy but damage the lender-relationship.

News on Sep 26, 2008 (ie. after the prediction closing date): Google wants the FCC to act on the "white spaces" issue before November's election, WSJ reports. Microsoft , Dell, Motorola and Google are just some the companies that want unlicensed access to the vacant TV channels for high-speed wireless services, but broadcasters and wireless-microphone manufacturers have fought against any such move.

So FCC has not allowed free airwaves yet.

French novelist Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clezio has won the 2008 Nobel Prize for Literature. The Swedish Academy, in announcing the award today, called Le Clezio an "author of new departures, poetic adventure and sensual ecstasy, explorer of a humanity beyond and below the reigning civilization." The 2008 award came in an atmosphere of controversy created last month by Horace Engdahl, permanent secretary of the Nobel committee for literature, who told the Associated Press that American literature is "too isolated, too insular," and American writers "too sensitive to trends in their own mass culture."
